I have several protected pages setup for members and the rest of the site for the public. I’ve been using this plugin, the login redirection, and the Google Recaptcha for a while now, and it has worked great.

For some reason, the login redirection and the protection page security seems to have stopped working correctly. Although the redirect does go to the correct protected member home page, the body of the member home page does not display. It displays the text that is normally shown when the user has not logged in yet, “You need to login to view this content. Please Login. Not a Member? Join Us”.

Once I click off, I can get to the protected member home page and I am logged in so I know the login is working. If I change the redirect page to the public home page it works fine so I know the redirect function is working. It just seems to be a clash between the redirect the background security functionality of the Simple Membership plugin. Can I reinstall the plugin easily without losing the current settings?

    Please advise.

    Thank you,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

Can I reinstall the plugin easily without losing the current settings?

Yes you can, you will not loose any settings. However I always recommend creating a backup just in case something goes wrong. This is just as a precaution.

Also are you currently running a cache plugin in your site or server?

    Regards.

No cache plugin, but the firewall cache’s information. I cleared the cache manually, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Are there instructions to manually reinstall the plugin?

    Thank you for your help

All you have to do is deactivate and delete the plugin and then install a fresh new copy. The following instructions can also help you.

    Thank you.

Sorry, but I should have been clear with my question.

Is there a way to reinstall the plugin without losing all of the settings?

Maybe save off a config file and then copy back in once I deactivate, delete, and reinstall?

    Thank you

    Hi,

Is there a way to reinstall the plugin without losing all of the settings?

When you delete the plugin, the database will hold the critical membership info and settings configuration. Those will not get deleted if you delete the plugin. This is to make sure someone doesn’t lose all their work if they accidentally deactivate and delete the plugin.

    Kind regards.
