Redirect Primary Domain URL to WordPress Directory

  • I have created a website that is at https://www.websiteurl.com/wp. When I go to that address I can see the website fine. When you type in https://www.websiteurl.com it does not work. I get a database error.

    I have tried am “All Public Domain” redirect.

    I’ve added some code to the .htaccess.

    None of this is working. I’ve done this many times before but for some reason this one has decided to be difficult.

  • it seems that you don’t own the domain, or if you do you have uploaded your stuff in the wrong place…

    I own the domain. This is all within the same domain. I just want to point it to the wordpress directory folder.

    The previous site programed on the url was joomla and I’m wondering if that is causing some issues.

    it should not be a problem if joomla was there, but there seems to be no “wp” folder at all… Check if it’s in the public_html (if this is what your server uses) and if wordpress is correctly installed there

    Can’t you contact your hosting provider for this?
