• A particular category is very popular with my readers – and ranks fairly high on search engine searches (SEO).

Since then, I have created a separate website which contains all the content from that category – and nothing else. There is a 1-1 mapping between the posts in that category and the new website.

What I’d like to do is:

    a) Whenever they go to a post on the older website, I would like to ‘inform’ them of a new website, which they should check out.
    b) Alternatively, just redirect them to the post on the new website (but then, won’t I lose the high SEO ranking that the original post enjoys?)

    Thanks in advance

  • 1. not sure why you would want to create a separate website for the category contents. Isn’t it “duplicate content” which Google penalise?

    2. you can use htaccess redirect or redirection plugin to redirect posts to new website. If use 301 permarnent redirect, the SEO ranking will be passed to the new website.
