• I own danwelsh.co.uk through 123-reg and have the nameservers pointing to JustHost. This allows me to type danwelsh.co.uk into the address bar and it takes me to my JustHost site but has the rather ugly “https://173.254.28.26/~danwelsh/” appearing in the address bar when you get there. Within my JustHost account, if I change the site address and wordpress address to https://danwelsh.co.uk I get a redirect loop when trying to access the content.

I’ve just added a second domain name (tenminutelectures.com) to my control panel at JustHost which I bought from JustHost and get the same problem. Anyone got any ideas for a fix? ??

You have to configure your site to use the domain name instead of the IP address. The other thing which also should be resolved is your .htaccess file and the mod_rewrite rules in it. Right now the site is configured to use permalinks:

    https://173.254.28.26/~danwelsh/2013/06/28/music/

This means that the .htaccess rules are also modified to use the same structure. You should configure the site to use the new domain name. For more details how to do this check this article.

To resolve the issue with the .htaccess file disable Permalinks, then delete the .htaccess file, change the domain name and finally enable Permalinks again. Hope it works for you ??
