    Hello,

I’m using WordPress 2.0.4. Yesterday, the site’s host upgraded their database to mysql 5. There were lots of glitches, and the database was mostly inaccessible throughout the day.

At night, however, the blog section of the site (www.altfg.com/blog/) was working fine, and this morning, too.

Out of the blue — I didn’t touch the site/Wordpress today — at about 9:45am PDT, I (and others) began getting the following message whenever we tried to access the blog portion of the site:

    ******The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.*****************

The host’s engineers have been working on the problem, but so far no solution (it’s almost 4pm). Needless to say, it’s all very frustrating. I was wondering if anyone here has a suggestion as to what might be wrong. I’d then contact the host to let them know. I know they’ve had other complaints today about this issue — though I’m not sure if they’re all from WordPress users.

Other sections of the site — the .htm pages not on the database — are working just fine. (e.g., https://www.altfg.com/awards/2006/miami.htm).

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

In case anyone else has this sort of trouble in the future, the problem lay with the host’s mod perl set-up.
