Hi! I’ve been using your Blocks for a quite a while now, but had to switch off the plugin, due to an issue. It probably began around6-8 months ago. In short, the back end editor page has a bright red background to all the blocks (not just yours). If I switch off your Blocks Plugin, the problem disappears. It doesn’t affect the look of the published post – just the back end editing screen. Is there an address I can post a screenshot to?

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi @stevepalmeratwordpress,
may we have more details to reproduce the issue? Steps to reproduce and the list of other plugins related to blocks active in your site will be helpful.

To share screenshots you can try https://imgbb.com/

    Hi htmgarcia

Thank you. It’s probably not practical to list all my plugins here – I have many installed. I do realise though that it MIGHT be a conflict with another plugin.

I’m pretty sure it’s *not* related to a conflict with my theme (‘Pen’ Theme) either as the issue existed before I changed to ‘Pen’

My logic is that this PLugin USED TO work without any issues, but an update to the plugin sometime in the past caused the issue.

I have rolled-back to earlier builds as far back as your past 5 releases and the issue still persists. I’m pretty sure it didn’t exhibit this behaviour when it was known as ‘Advanced Gutenberg’ (but it’s such a while ago now, I can’t be sure).

The issue has been around for a long, long time for me (probably even before PP took ownership) – in the end, I just deactivated the plugin – but it’s a very good plugin and I miss its functionality. The problem can be reproduced on any of my PCs and is consistent. It does NOT affect the published post, just the backend/editor interface.

Hope this is helpful. I have already tried switching off other plugins – but it did not seem to make any difference. Are there any logs I can send?

The only way to get rid of the red background is to deactivate the PLugin. If I leave it activated but just disable ALL the blocks, the problem persists,

Here are some screenshots – I realise it’s not much to go on.

I am very happy to provide other data to assist you. I’m good at problem solving PC issues but am fairly new to WordPress itself. ??

    Thanks @stevepalmeratwordpress !

We don’t have other reports about the result from the screenshot. I can think in 2 ways to check what could be causing the issue in your editor:

    a) Inspect the elements with browser inspect tool in red background to see from where the CSS that generates that red style is coming.

    b) There is a chance another plugin is conflicting with PublishPress Blocks. To confirm this, activate back PublishPress Blocks and try deactivating (not uninstalling) one plugin at the time to see if the issue is gone.

    Hi htmgarcia

Thanks for those two helpful tips.

I’d already mentioned that I tried switching off other plugins to check for a conflict – but it didn’t reveal the culprit! ??

I’m fairly new to WordPress – can you give me an idea of what I might be looking for in the elements within my browser console (this is also a new area for me) – can you give me a clue as to the sort of information that I’m looking for. Will it be obvious such as “xxxx has created a red background”?

Thanks for any advice. I love your plugin and I really want to keep it, but troubleshooting the problem is taking a long time, so any hints and tips would be very much appreciated.

    All the best

    Hi @stevepalmeratwordpress,
we are looking for CSS with the browser inspect tool and if is the case, to which CSS file belongs that styling. This doc may help: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Page_Inspector/UI_Tour#css_pane

To cover more possibilities, are you using custom styles through our plugin?

    Hi htmgarcia

Thanks for sticking with me on this one. I’m happy to put in as much time as I can to solve the issue – love the plugin, but finding it hard to use atm.

Not sure what you mean by ‘custom styling’ within the plugin – I don’t recall changing that.

Thanks for the tip regarding CSS and the console and the link to the article Technically, I’m very much out of my depth here, but here’s a link of the data I found
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/12SO-z7_EURRRKxswtYnVRuEqsTME76RE/view?usp=sharing

Can you help me narrow things down, as it’s just a lot of code to me? What am I looking for? Thanks again, Steve

Sorry, sharing all the CSS is not required. What is helpful is to use the browser inspect tool to analyze the red elements to know which CSS is being applied there.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what I need to do. I’m not very techy in this area. Could you maybe simplify your suggestion? Thanks, Steve

    Hi

That’s a shame. But I realise you must be busy with other, apparently more relevant issues. Cheers for your comments so far. Bye-bye Publish Press.
