Recurring events: Getting duplicate events when using "edit future events"

Hi! When I use the “edit future events” feature on my top menu, it not only updates the original series but creates a duplicate for every future event, starting on the following week. So for example, for an event that runs weekly from Sept. 3 to Oct. 29, if I hit “edit future events for Oct. 1, I’ll get duplicates for that event on Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29. One of the duplicates shows my updates, and one doesn’t. Help!
