I didn’t find any topic that matched this particular issue, but I apologize if I’m duplicating a problem ticket.

I’m encountering an issue with designation of events as recurring, then not being able to return to designation of event as single. When initially created, our event known as “Festival Overture”, was a series of 5 “custom recurrences”. Since that time, it has been asked that those events be broken out into separate events so that they can be individualized in their description and association. After the event was altered so that it is assigned to a single day (by clicking the check box to change custom recurrence settings), it was duplicated to preserve the format of the event.

When the “custom recurrence” was changed to make it single again, it does not seem to save changes correctly, or the “flag” for an event to display on its page as a recurrence doesn’t appear to be removed. This is evidenced by the format of the “event details” section of an event page. When you view the event now, the “event details” section displays extra information in the format of a recurring event, but it’s redundant and looks bad because it is only referencing one date.

This is an example of a page with the error. This is displaying in FireFox with the latest updates.

Please let me know if any further information or screenshots are needed to assess the issue,

    Thanks,

When editing the event is the recurrence set to custom? Check the checkbox to enable editing of the event dates and then ensure it is set to ‘none’.

Also, are you aware that you can take a recurring event and ‘split’ each of the event’s dates out into their own event. From the admin calendar select the occurrence of the recurring event and click ‘break this occurrence’. This removes that occurrence from the series and establishes as its own single event.

Yes, the event was set to custom I believe. When I went in to correct the issue, I clicked the check box on the event edit page so that I could change the recurrence setting to none, but that change didn’t take, no matter how many times I tried it. When I saved the change and went back in, it would always be in a custom recurrence state. However, it did keep the changes that I made to the dates, meaning that it only shows the event as happening on one day, it just displays it in a custom recurrence format as I linked to before.

I was not aware that I could “break out” a recurring event into individual dates, which sounds like what I should have done. Thanks for the note, I will be sure to use that function in the future. Given that I have already made the changes the other way, is there something I can do to salvage it, or do I need to start over and recreate these events as singles?

    Thanks for the feedback.
