    Hi all ??

    My product images are square shaped. However, I see for some product categories it would be optimal with rectangular images on Google Shopping to make best use of the space there.

    Since I want my images on the webshop to be square, how do I go about setting it up so that the pictures on Google Shopping are rectangular but the pictures on the shop are square?

    And only for products in a specific category, so not all images.

    Is there a way to have a secondary image that is only used if there is one available, otherwise it just uses the main image? Or something similar perhaps?

    I see that other webshops in this category get more visibility this way, yet they have square images ones you go to their shops.

    Best regards,

    Martin

  • Hi,

    Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. We understand what you would like to achieve however unfortunately there is no easy way to solve this.

    What you could consider doing is the following:

    1. Add a new WooCommerce attribute to the product edit pages in which you fill in the URL of your rectangle pictures
    2. You create a product feed for only the specific categories that have rectangular pictures and make sure that you map Google’s g:image_link field to the newly attribute you created so the rectangular image URL’s end up in your feed;
    3. For the other categories you create one separate feed which excludes the categories from point 2.

    Hope this makes sense?

    Thank you very much for your answer. That makes good sense, and it’s doable ??

    So, if I simply paste the relevant image link in the new attribute section like below, will it read it? I mean, no need for “” signs or anything else. Just the straight-up link in the box (plus the other steps you mentioned, naturally)?

    Thanks!

    Yes, that is correct. The way you showed in the screenshot is how it should work.
