    Hi,

I’m trying to get my site back up and running properly on my MAMP install after a hard drive crash. I have a backup of my Document root, but not a proper export of the database. I get an “ERROR AFTER ESTABLISHING DATABASE CONNECTION” message.

Is there a way to get my database back? I’ve got about a month’s worth of work on the line, including all the written content and lots of Divi customizations that were done within Divi builder–so gone.

Thanks to anyone who can help out!

    Regards,
    VirtualBartek

    PS
Posting here instead of the ‘localhost’ forum because I think the problem could occur on a live site too.

If you don’t have a backup of the database, then no. The database is where all the data lives. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Just the files do not a site make.

Well, my friend Yoda, it seems that isn’t entirely true. I just travelled back in time–no, better–I brought the past back to life in all it’s vivid glory and was able to make a backup. That backup travelled between universes and was married to my new install rooted in the present, bundled with files and all.

Carbon Copy Cloner has just paid for itself. Lessons have been learned.

    Cheers,

Awesome. Glad to hear it. For the future, perhaps consider another backup solution, one which will get the database as well.

Funny thing is that I’m prepared for that once I go live, but hadn’t considered it on my localhost. Thanks again. I’m off to search for a plugin that will do that for me and keep it local.
