    Hi,

Anyone know how to reverse engineer a database so it can reconnect to saved WordPress files? I had a computer failure. I had a copy of the files on my c: drive where my wamp directory was, but lost my configurations.

Looking at the wp-config file, I can see the database name, password, etc. but I don’t think it’s as simple as recreating them in MyPHPadmin (if it is I’m missing a step ’cause it aint workin’).

Anyone go through this before or otherwise have some non-retrospective advice (I’ve kicked myself enough)?

    Thanks!

  • It is absolutely impossible to reverse engineer a WP database from scratch. Do you not have a database backup file?

If you mean .sql.zip then no. Thought I did but either I saved them someplace that wasn’t backed-up or I was mistaken.

What I have is just the files and subfolders in c:wamp.

I’m sorry but, in that case, there is absolutely nothing you can do. ??

Well, it never hurts to ask. It’s not a huge deal as the localhost was just a sandbox for my live site. I’ll just rebuild it using the same specs.

    Thanks for the response.
