Recommendations for WordPress 5.8 & block-based widget screen

WordPress 5.8 has just been released, and it includes a re-designed Widgets page that uses the block editor.

Our Social Icons widget (legacy) is currently not ready to be used in the new widgets screen, and here are your options:

1. Edit the widget using Customizer.
Using the Customizer, you can continue editing the legacy Social Icons Widget without any problems.

2. Transform the widget to Social Icons Block – https://d.pr/i/uzX6j7

Since our plugin includes both a widget and a block, now it’s the right time to switch to our Social Icons Block to get a better experience when adding icons to your website.
Just click on the calendar icon in the widget area and from there you can transform your existing widget to Social Icons Block.

3. Disable the new block-based widgets screen
You can do that easily using this the Classic Widgets plugin

Known Issues

No Icons are shown after updating to WordPress 5.8
If you’ve updated to WordPress 5.8 and you’re trying to edit the Social Icons Widget (legacy) or any other widget from a widget area in which you also have this widget, then all the icons will disappear. That’s why we recommend first transforming the widget to the block or making sure to edit widgets using the Customizer.
