Recommendation need for a pop up plugin

I suspect you have no recommendations thus far because many people like me hate these things with a vengeance! ??

In particular, if you zoom a page on an iDevice as soon as the page loads and then the pop-in shows up, you often cannot get out of it again without going to the url and reloading the whole page. Horrible things.

I much prefer a banner or something before the header. You could look at this snippet, for example, which shows how to add text after the header. You could substitute __after_header for __before_header to get the sort of banner that themesandco.com currently has on the front page (it’s there only for the next couple of days).

#electricfeet Thanks for your honest opinion about this. I also find most pop ups annoying. Especially when they pop up after I have closed it and then on other pages within the site. I was after a pop up that would appear only once. I found Scroll Trigger Boxes, which seems to do the trick. Se what you think: universityicons.com Do you find it objectionable?

I like the idea of the banner. I will have to play around and see if I can figure out how to do it.
