Hi, does anyone need to have reciprocal related posts? I mean, a flag setting this condition every time you set a related post…

    Hey @mauriziozani,

I’m not sure what your question is, could you please elaborate.

    Kind regards,

I mean: when you set that post B is related with post A, automatically post A becomes related to post B, reciprocally

Yes, I was looking for this too!

I think it makes sense that if post A is related to post B, post B should be related to post A.

    How can we achieve this?

    Thanks!

Never mind, I’ve been able to do it. A simple code modification in the file class-meta-box-manage.php ??

    Hey all,

@motinews glad to hear you were able to fix this. Please note that changing in core files are lost on plugin update. It’s recommended to use actions and filters in the plugin instead.

For everyone else reading this. I like the idea of reciprocal related posts, but it does bring some challenges. One of the issues is that it might lead to a large amount of posts on certain posts just because they are related to other posts. This can be an issue if you like to only have, say, 3 related posts per post.

On top of that, in terms of find the best related content, reciprocal related posts don’t always make sense. Just because “post B” is a good match for “post A”, it doesn’t automatically mean “post A” is a top 3 match for “post B”, maybe “post C,D and E” and more related to “post B”, while not that related to “post A”.

I’ve written the idea down and will give it more thoughts. Maybe I’ll add it in a future version.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Kind Regards,

Yes, I usually do a file diff each time before manually updating the plugin.

For my case scenario, where I’m only using the posts in the backend, this works perfectly. Thanks again!
