recipient e-mail is not in email when received by gmail

After someone fills out the form and submits it. It gets sent to wordpress in box and then redirected to gmail.com. During the redirection the recipient who filled out the form, their email address does not forward to the gmail so we can not respond back to that person. Is their a fix for this or do I need to leave a message saying please leave your email in the message. Thank you all for the help ahead of time.
