  • Are you using manual or automatic mode?

    Hi Destac

Minify mode is set to Auto.

    Is that an issue?

    Try switching to Manual.

Ok, thanks. Have switched it to manual. Will check later to see if the error still comes up.

BTW – what is the difference between choosing manual and auto? How does the plugin act differently for these two settings?

Auto tries to automatically find all the CSS and JS but it doesn’t combine them it only compresses them.

Manual means you have to add the files but it will combine them as well as minify them. Which is the better option.

    Thanks Destac
Well the error message isn’t coming up today, so that is good!!

One last question – how do I go about firstly identifying the CSS and JS files that should be minified?

And then how do I add the files to the list that the plugin will minify?

    Many thanks again!!

Oops… the error is back again today.

    Can anyone help?

So, I have switched minify to manual, but now I get the error message: Recently an error occurred while creating the CSS / JS minify cache: No sources to serve

How do I fix this? Do I need to specify css / js sources? If so, how do I do that?

    Please help!

You have to manually add the css,js resources yes. Start by pressing the help button at the top.

I’m constantly seeing this error message on my admin dashboard. It’s so annoying. I’ve searched the database tables and there’s no reference to the “missing” file.

Where is W3TC storing this list of files it thinks should be minified and why isn’t it being updated correctly? Is there a method to force it to throw away its current list and regenerate a correct, up to date one?

To think that I have time to manually manage a list of JS and CSS files to minify every time I add or update a plugin or theme is unrealistic, so switching to manual mode isn’t a viable solution.

    +1
