Recent Posts – Sub-sections by Category?

  • I have done some googling around, and can’t quite find this anywhere, so I’m throwing this out.

    What I’d like to find is a sidebar widget which shows the recent posts, but breaks them down by category.

    e.g.

    RECENT POSTS
    CAT 1
    – Post 1 (date)
    – Post 2 (date)
    CAT 2
    – Post 1 (date)
    – Post 2 (date)
    – Post 3 (date)

    etc. The indentation isn’t required, I imagine that you could style such things with CSS.

    Ideally I’d like to be able to control the # of posts per category – perhaps even set them individually, but that’s really pushing my luck ??

    Anyone have any ideas of any existing plugin/widgets that could do this?
