Recent Pages Just Started to Fail

I have been using the widget plugin successfully for several months now. It is simply configured to show the last 5 published pages in a specific category. Two weeks ago, the widget started to ignore the latest published page in that category. Settings on pages are identical to those that had worked before. The order is simple, by date, title only. Any ideas?
