Recent Links Plugin

Had this installed for a few days, and just noticed that even though I enter a link in the format
Here’s a link [a]https://wwww … etc[/a]
all my recent links are linking to the page they sit on.
I can see the full address, but the hyperlink will just reload the page.
Any ideas ?
