Recent comments widget not updating with new comments

    MY Recent Comments Widget is reflecting comments from three posts back, not from the current posts (which do have comments).

    I have written three blog posts which have each received comments, but the “recent comments” widget is showing comments from three posts prior to these. It’s worked fine for several years and now it isn’t. I don’t know why.

    My Dashboard page at https://linkmeister.com/dodgers/wp-admin/index.php# shows comments from 8 days ago as the most recent. There have been at least 150 comments on five subsequent posts since then.

  • Hi,

    Do you have a link to the page with the Better Recent Comments widget (or shortcode)? The link above is using the standard Recent Comments widget (the one that comes with WordPress rather than via our plugin).

    Crap. I posted this in the wrong place, I guess. I’m not using your plugin. I am using the one WP supplies.

    I’m perfectly willing to use yours, though. Should I? ??

    If the default widget is not showing the latest comments though, then our plugin may do the same. It could be that there’s some caching on your server (or a plugin or 3rd party service such as CloudFlare) which is causing it.

    I wonder. I added an auto-backup plugin a few weeks ago and I updated Disqus about the same time. Server caching might be an answer, but I’ve used the same host for ten years with no such occurrence. I can drop them a line to see if they did anything funky.

    Well, nothing ventured nothing gained. I’ll install your plugin and see what happens. Can’t hurt (I assume). ?? Is it the one from Barn2 Media?

    Okay, I deleted the WP default “recent comments” widget and added yours. I got the same result — no comments appearing later than those from about five blog posts ago.

    It doesn’t look like it’s the widget’s problem, it’s something else.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
