recent comments–trying to get consistent character cut-offs

Hi,

I love the recent comments plug-in, but I’m having trouble to get it to cut off consistently–or anywhere near–the character limit I set in the settings window.

It seems to let some comments run the full length (I have it set to 120char), but others it cuts off for no apparent reason at all, like “I think…” literally just 2-3 words. I don’t think this is a line break or punctuation issue… I’m totally baffled by this and would love to fix it.

The site in question is here (comments on the left)… note that it’s a relationships/dating advice site, so some of the content is slightly NSFW depending on your employer. But no nudity or anything.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
