Receiving Unknown Modifier errors after updating to 3.6.1

  • Hi guys, I just updated my website, trypanama.com to 3.6.1 and am now receiving this error message, repeated several times, on top of all pages and posts:

    Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Unknown modifier ‘/’ in /home1/adnoh650/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 204

    Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: Unknown modifier ‘/’ in /home1/adnoh650/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp.php on line 205

    How can I go about fixing this? And – apologies- but since I have little experience messing around in FTP files, please be specific (read: dingbat-proof lol.)

    Is this something I need to jump into the FTP files to do, or can I do it using the stylesheets that come with my child theme (Agentpress) ?

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Oh, I am using HostGator, if that is of any importance. Out of curiosity I tried to look into the file manager from the C-panel and got these options to choose from:

    Home Directory
    Web Root (public_html/www)
    Public FTP Root (public_ftp)
    Document Root for: trypanama.com

    And I’m not even sure which to pick!

    Where is WordPress installed?
