• SPAM emails are originating from my Worpress installation and being sent to my WordPress admin email address.

The emails are being sent from [email protected] and they are being sent to the WordPress admin email address, I changed the email address in the WordPress control panel to [email protected] as a check and now all the SPAM emails are going to the [email protected] – So, for sure the SpamBug is picking up the email from the WordPress admin control panel.

Do you know how I can stop this?

ALL the emails are originating from the email address [email protected] (which does not exist on my server) so I have added this email sender to my blacklist in cPanel Apache SpamAssasin but I feel that there must be a better solution to stop this spamming? I am concerned that my server is being used as some form of host for outbound SPAM.

Are there checks we can make or any advice you can offer?

I guess the SpamBug is attempting to email all of my subscribers but this website does not actually have any users other than the admin user, so they are not getting very far in that regard. The strange thing is, all emails being sent are empty, totally blank.

I have tried to give as much information as possible but if you need more, please ask. Can anyone help me?

Are these actual spam emails, or are these emails notifying you of new comments which happen to be spam?

The email body itself is blank. Maybe not typical “spam” as it is not promoting anything. They are not notifying of new comments, they are actually notifying nothing as they are blank.

The email is some form of bug (I guess) as it is automatically generated from [email protected] (which does not exist in my email accounts in cPanel) and is being sent to whatever the admin email address is in WordPress, when I change the email address for admin in WordPress the next emails then get delivered there from “[email protected]”.

There are about 10-15 emails per day being generated.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

Ok, this may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
