Receiving so many Site Lockout Notifications

  • Hi,

    Generally speaking, i receive many notifications and, for example within the last 20 minutes, i’ve received 40 notifications !
    Obviously something is wrong with my website but i don’t know what. Can anyone help me to find the problem ?

    The notifications i get are about “too many attempts to open a file that does not exist” or about “too many login attempts”. First, i would like to understand what this is about exactly : what file ? what login attempts ?

    The thing is that i’m pretty sure these notifications are not warning me about a real threat.

  • Hi there, I have read and did it to attach apple icon like /apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png

    But i still get error for this icon.

    Also i have favicon.ico but i still get error with this item too.

    What’s matter with it? What should i do?

    To fully fix apple icon issue, you need not only 1, but multiple versions of the icon:

    – apple-touch-icon.png
    – apple-touch-icon-72×72.png
    – apple-touch-icon-precomposed.png
    – apple-touch-icon-114×114.png
    – apple-touch-icon-114×114-precomposed.png
    – apple-touch-icon-144×144.png
    – apple-touch-icon-144×144-precomposed.png

    Yeah sure. I have several version of them.

    Not very sure about your case, but did you put the files under theme directory?
    yoursite.com/wp-content/themes/xxxxxx

    You should put it on the top directory of your website.

    Sure, i put the files at there. Also all of those files appear when i check the links.

    But i don’t know if this plugin must put the files in top directory. Am I should put the files at top directory same with the wp-config.php place?

    Anw, if our server has time out. Is this plugin will report as 404 not found for several files?

    Yes, you should put the icon files at the top directory same with wp-config.php.

    Nice to meet same country friend here in WordPress.

    So far as I know, server time out usually being reported as 5xx, so it won’t being recognized as 404 errors in the plugin.

    It works. Just like you told, it should be on the root directory.

    Hum, seems weird for me but it’s fine.

    The other side i have a lot of notification 404 errors too. I get around errors 400 per day.

    Glad to know it works.

    High amount of 404 errors can be an indication of something wrong in your website, you should do some inspections about it.

    /wp-content/themes/Mythemes/library/js/scripts.js?ver=3.5.1
    Are you using the Mythemes? If yes, I will suggest you to (temporary) change your theme and see if the errors still happen.

    Should i install cache plugin like Supercache?
    If you have high traffic website you should install cache plugin, for low traffic sites, it is not very needed. Supercache and W3 Total Cache both are good plugins, but before you install the plugin you should backup your website because improper configuration of cache plugin might break your site.
