Receiving notifications for ALL comments that existed on the site

    I’ve set up a notification for new comment / awaiting moderation. This is working ?? but I’m also getting notifications constantly of all the other comments that were already existing on the site before adding this plugin. They are already approved, but I am receiving notifications for all of them.

    Is this normal functionality?

    Can I stop this from happening and just enable for new comments that have not yet been approved?

    Thanks for your message.

    No, this certainly isn’t normal behaviour – I can’t say i’ve come across this before.
    The only reason I can think this is happening is if the comments are in a state of flux. Normally, BNFW only triggers a notification when comments transition between two states. Namely, from new to published or from new to in moderation. Are you using any comment moderation plugins or comment enhancements?

    Hi Jack, thanks for your reply and confirming that isn’t standard behaviour ??

    Only plugin that may have anything to do with the comments is Jetpack…do you think this could be causing the issue?

    Hi Kitty,
    Not sure.

    Have you tried disabling Jetpack to see if that helps? Can you also verify that you’re set-up comments to work as per the FAQ?
