Am having problems getting recaptcha to work and have done the following:
    1) Rechecked that the keys are correct
    2) Deactivated all plugins but wpforms
    3) Tried changing to a different standard WP theme

None of the above seems to fix the problem.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @edaguy,

I’ve taken a look at the form at https://scwpickleballclub.com/wpforms-test-1/ and noticed that the Google reCAPTCHA badge notes the error message “This site key is not enabled for the invisible captcha.” – screenshot

This means that there has been a mismatch in your settings, either in your WPForms Settings, or in your Google reCAPTCHA dashboard.

The settings on both need to be the same (as in if your Google reCAPTCHA key is for a V2 checkbox, then you need to select V2 checkbox in WPForms settings also), and the key that is generated also be the appropriate one for the configuration. Please refer to our documentation regarding setting up the reCAPTCHA feature here.

I hope this helps ?? Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Hi @edaguy,

We haven’t heard back from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist further, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

I started trying the regular “I’m not a robot” style and received an error message.
I double checked that I was using the right keys and I was.
I tried using the invisible option using a different set of keys and got an error message.

I then decided to try and use hCaptcha instead.
I deleted all the reCaptcha keys, switched to hCaptacha and entered the keys for hCaptcha
That worked until I refreshed the page and then I got both the reCaptcha error message again and the normal hCaptcha box. In other words, both were trying to display.
I tried Chrome, Firefox and Edge, all exhibited this same problem: reCaptcha won’t go away
I deleted all history and cookies from all the browsers and still can’t get rid of reCaptcha
I had someone else try the test contact page and they saw the same thing.

Question: am I correct that removing the reCaptcha keys and selecting hCaptcha instead is all I should need to do to get my contact form using hCaptha?

I don’t understand why I can’t get rid of reCaptcha. I tried creating a new form from scratch, never using reCaptcha from the beginning and it still won’t go away. It’s like the form is trying to use both.

I did use the override option to try and force the form to use the selected captcha scheme and that didn’t make any difference.

    thanks,

    Hi @edaguy,

After any changes you made, did you clear your site’s caches/CDNs before testing? Otherwise any changes you had made might not be displayed yet, and the page that you’re testing with may still be a version from before you made the edits.

I suspect this because you mention that upon reload, reCaptcha is showing.

It also may be possible that there is another program that is providing reCaptcha code.

Please refer to our troubleshooting guide for steps on how to test for conflicting code, as well as general troubleshooting information.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Kindly,

Went back to trying reCaptcha. Here’s the new test page:
    https://scwpickleballclub.com/wpform-test-2/

Double checked that it’s using V2 reCaptcha keys.
Removed hCaptcha keys just in case
    Purged cache
    Ran test form 2
    Checked the reCaptcha box
    Hit submit
Now I’m seeing “this field is required” below the reCaptcha box.

    Next I Disabled all plugins
    Purged cache
Retried new test page: same error message

    Any ideas?

    Hi @edaguy,

I’ve taken a look at the form found at /wpform-test-2 and can see the issue you’re describing.

However, I apologize, as I wasn’t able to find a reason for this from the front-end. I didn’t find any errors being generated, nor any conflicting reCaptcha code.

I did notice that your site is using the theme Twenty Twelve, and I found some rare reports that v2 reCaptcha would not work with this theme. Could you try switching to a more up to date default WordPress theme such as Twenty Twenty and testing again?

If that doesn’t work, then unfortunately this will require a more extensive troubleshooting where login access to your site will be needed which does not conform to the rules of the www.remarpro.com support forums.

Please consider upgrading to a paid version of WPForms, as it includes a dedicated email support channel where our support team will be able to take a closer look at issues of this nature.

In case it helps to know, we have a refund policy where if over the first 14 days decide WPForms isn’t a good fit, then we’ll happily refund 100% of your money. No questions asked.

    Kindly,

Thanks for looking into it further. I’ll look into updating the theme later in the month when I can get back to it. It’s a volunteer organization and I don’t know if they’ll have the funds for the pro version, I’ll check into it. Thanks for the help.
