    Hello

    This concept of reCAPTCHA v3 was new to me. I was using v2.

    So I set up the keys and updated the website.

    When I set up the keys I got this warning:

    Note: The scores for this site may not be accurate before running with sufficient live traffic. Please see our developer site for more information.

    I had a look at the developer site and it is also over my head. Is there anything I ned to do?

    Andrew

    I haven’t seen such warnings, but it seems normal. Because reCAPTCHA v3’s analysis engine needs to check a lot of traffic to keep accuracy, it needs some amount of time. Wait for a few days. I think time will solve the issue.

    OK, thank you.

    After this update, I am receiving more spam emails in the contact form.

    After update CAPTCHA is no more working, I had to set key and pass but they are the same as before.
    Spam is coming …

    @takayukister
    Can you please allow reCaptcha v2 also?
    I dont want v3!!!

    I also would prefer to use v2

    I don’t need this too

    I must admit that given the impact of V3 that it would have been optional to use rather than mandatory.

    At the same time I see that many users asked for v3 and were even pressuring for it. So I empathise with the plugin author who no one is really saying thank you and just complaining.

    In he-insight I would suggest supporting v3 as a choice and then users can choose which recaptcha system to use. That is if it is practical to do. Might make code maintenance too hard.

    Afterall, V2 might have a shelf life – who knows.

    Agreed @ajtruckle. When I went to update this plugin on multiple sites I manage to then have to obtain new keys from Google and then see this badge throughout the entire website. Many clients are not going to want to see this on every page of their site (it especially looks clunky and out of place on mobile).

    I would agree that having the option to use v2 or v3 sounds like the most practical solution. Although if v2 has an EOL… ?????♂?

    It’s definitely a pain to maintain 2 sets of APIs, but a legacy time period should be the right way to go (until EOL of V2, which I doubt is anytime soon anyway).

    Considering that he has both V2 done (from previous CF7 versions) and V3, it shouldn’t be too taxing to add an option to keep V2, though.
    Provided I would understand if he wouldn’t give any support for V2 related issues.

    @takayukister what do you say?

    I installed recaptcha v2 on many of my websites last week, now contact form 7 updated to work with v3 only, and i get a LOT of spam. It was working fine before… What to come? Will it be fixed?

    @ajtruckle Thank you for understanding.

    As far as I can tell, it’s virtually impossible to use both v2 and v3 at the same time. The two versions share the same endpoint (https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api.js), but, of course, they use completely different approaches. Also, as an API key itself doesn’t contain any information about its version, you can’t tell whether you are using v2 or v3.

    Even if there was a possibility to make the two versions selectable, I bet it would cause more chaotic situation than what you see now.

    IMO, reCAPTCHA v3 is a great masterpiece. Users who accept v3 will soon realize it’s advantages. There is no reason to go back to the absurd “I’m not a robot” checkbox.

    I believe v3 also has made great improvement especially in terms of accessibility. Actually I’ve got requests of v3 from assistive technology users who have suffered from v2 interface.

    Activating v3 right now is definitely the best option.

    I just activated v3 on all my sites, is it normal i get spam more than v2?

    By reading the above announcement you will have to agree with @takayukister when he says “Activating v3 right now is definitely the best option”.
