Hi,

We use the reCAPTCHA integration for almost all of our client’s sites and over the past few months have noticed an increase in spam. At first I thought this was down to v3, but I have tried using v2 which also renders no results. It’s all though the shortcode is having no effect at all.

This has been tested on 15 different sites now, all with their own configurations and other plugins, but all with the same result of no recaptcha, where once it used to be working fine. I wonder if this is a conflict with the latest version of WP?

I see a number of other people are having similar issues and there’s talk of a fix by editing a line of PHP, but I wonder how soon the plugin will be updated with this fix?

the reCaptcha doesn’t display on my form either… xhttps://b2buildingscience.com/contact/

I look forward to a fix. Or I just switch to Gravity Forms that don’t have any issues.

reCAPTCHA isn’t activated on those sites. See reCAPTCHA (v3) to set it up.

Hi Takayuki,

They are setup with keys, but it’s the v2 option (checkbox) we want to use. I have double checked that the integration settings are correct, but the tickbox never shows.

See reCAPTCHA (v3).

API keys for reCAPTCHA v3 are different from those for v2; keys for v2 don’t work with the v3 API. You need to register your sites again to get new keys for v3.

That’s my point though…we don’t want to use v3. We want to use the checkbox option under v2. If v2 isn’t supported anymore why is it an option in the plugin settings?

Google are still supporting v2 so I’m not sure why it’s no longer working with CF7

In my personal experience, v3 was simply unusable. It loaded its heavy scripts on every single page, and worst of all, it did not protect from spam at all.
I ended up using another plugin with v2.

You may not want to wish to use v3 but the author is taking the entire 5 million CF7 users to ransom by forcing everyone to use v3. That’s the end of it. Either accept this or find another contact form plugin.

You may also extend CF7 with a v2 plugin. Search this forum for names.
