• Hi there
Some reports of the Recaptcha not working have been received, when hitting the Submit button, an error message “Please solve the recaptcha to continue.” appears. Although all seems well in the admin area, looking at the settings in my Google account, it says that “We detected that your site isn’t verifying reCAPTCHA solutions. This is required for the proper use of reCAPTCHA on your site. Please see our developer site for more information.” It links to this page https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/verify#api-request, but there is no way that I can see of dealing with this in the plugin settings. Can you help please?

For the time being I have had to remove the Recaptcha from the page so that users can submit messages.

    Thanks

  • Hello

Can you supply a link with the contact form on it configured for recaptcha? Thanks.

Hi thanks for getting back to me.

That’s a bit difficult. This is the contact form for someone letting their cottage out for holiday rental and they cannot afford to have the form not working. With the Recaptcha set, you cannot submit the form. Can you suggest and absolute time of day (not sure where in the world you are, I am in the UK) when you could have a look and I can set it on for one hour or something?

How about creating a new page with the form on?
FYI if you have the Akismet plugin installed all form entries get filtered through it for spam so it is pretty safe not to have recaptcha and of course it is nicer for users too.

I thought of doing that, but if I enable the Recaptcha for the new page – it’s enabled on the live form isn’t it?

They’re not running Akismet at the moment – but could I suppose.

Yes, I see what you mean! It’s going to be difficult to debug this without seeing the form not working.
Akismet is pretty straightforward to set up. Here is a guide if you haven’t done this before How to prevent WordPress spam.
