  • I have the same problem.

I have the same problem but it is intermittent. It works sometimes, fails other times. It works on a form on a page on the same site fails on another page.

This is a total disaster. Author must be ashamed of himself for causing this shambles.

I sincerely hope the community will fork this plugin and show the author how grown up developers behave. I am willing to chip in if it is needed with cash.

See Contact Form 7 5.1.1 – theme needs to properly loads JavaScript in the footer area of each page.

I hope we get a fix on this problem.

But what I did, was to reinstall the version 5.1. You can down load it from the CF7 site. Copy first your contact forms. Then you can deactivate and remove CF7.5.1.1 and load the older version CF 7.5.1 via an FTP program om your site in /wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7. Create the contact forms you need end copy the links of the new created contact forms in the pages where you use them. That worked for me.

Yes I know that CF7 caused a lot of problems this time. But on the other hand, this free plug-in worked flawless for years! So I’m still very happy with it and confident that the problem will be solved ??

just updated and I am also having this problem, wasted an hour so far checking over what I have done just incase.

For me this error was caused by LiteSpeed plugin configuration. I would guess that any cache plugin could cause this if minify and combine is turned on. I had to exclude /recaptcha/api.js from JS Minify and JS Combine settings.

    Hello Andrew,

    Thanks for your help.

I reinstalled the version 5.1.1 and here https://economy.wenkenbach.com/contact/ is the page you asked for. The site code I used is for the whole domain wenkenbach.com and this is also a multi-site. But I had the same issue on another sites, that is not of the multi-site configuration.

    Thank you!

@davemelbourn had the answer for me (minifying Javascript). I have CF7 5.1.1 with Recaptcha v3, with Autoptimize turned on for Javascript. Turning this off and clearing caches appears to have resolved the issue.

You’ll probably have to add the CF7 and/or Recaptcha’s JS to the comma-separated JS optimization exclusion list. In that process you should keep an eye on your browser’s console for JS errors, as those will help you identify the problem.

AO’s FAQ has more info on troubleshooting and how to exclude.

    hope this helps,
    frank (ao dev)
