Since migrating my website to a different domain, I’ve had to upgrade the Recaptcha keys. However when I insert the new Site ID and Secret key into the Forminator Settings I get the following error message: “Invalid key type”.

I can’t work out what the problem is – I’m using the keys that Google has given me, copying and pasting them from Google’s copy link (and checking them afterwards). Can anyone help?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @nataliemin,

I hope you are doing well today!

“ERROR for site owner: Invalid key type” error usually occurs when the keys you are trying to use are not compatible or there is a typo error.

Please double-check that you have copied the keys correctly and that there are no extra spaces or characters included. Sometimes, even a small mistake in copying the keys can cause them to be invalid.

Please let us know if you are seeing the reCAPTCHA configured correctly on the settings.

If this did not help, please share an export of the form with us, so that we can check further.

You can find more info on how to export the form here : https://wpmudev.com/docs/wpmu-dev-plugins/forminator/#import-export

After exporting, please share the file contents with us using the free services such as Google Drive, https://pastebin.com or https://justpaste.it

Please always make sure to use such services to share the code and don’t post the code here directly as it will most likely be unusable.

    Kind regards,
    Zafer

    Hi Zafer

    Thanks for your reply.

reCAPTCHA does appear to be configured correctly on the Forminator Settings – I cut-and-pasted the links, and I have also double-checked them. Google supplied a “legacy secret key” – maybe this was incorrect and I should have used the API key instead? But when I try this, I get the same error message.

I have imported the form to my Google Drive account here:

I’ve made it available to @wpmudevsupport15 – please let me know if you have any problems accessing it.

    Best regards

    Hello @nataliemin

    Hope you’re doing well today!

I’ve made it available to?@wpmudevsupport15?– please let me know if you have any problems accessing it.

I am not sure how that was possible without an email, would it be possible to share it with a link that is publicly accessible or via a service like pastebin.com this will help us to check the issue faster as it wouldn’t rely on one specific support. Hope you understand ??

Please feel free to remove any sensitive information from the form if any.

Note: this export will not include any data that is already submitted – they’ll stay safely on your site and we don’t need them anyway.

    Kind Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hi Saurabh

Apologies – I thought I’d made the link public on Google Drive. I’ve made it public now, and the link is: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11-hPs-x8U664IkCxRSg93SbJSo2FD0j8/view?usp=sharing

In case it still doesn’t work, I’ve also pasted the text onto Pastebin. I haven’t used this service before, so hopefully it will work – please let me know if there are still problems accessing it. The link is: https://pastebin.com/iaXnmFBC

    Hello @nataliemin

Thank you for sharing your form export.

I ran some tests using the form on my lab site but couldn’t replicate this issue, I can see you selected reCAPTCHA version 2 checkbox, you need to make sure the selected version in the captcha field matches the keys added to forminator settings, otherwise, it will not work.

In other words, if your key is created for “reCAPTCHA version 2 checkbox” you need to select the exact same version in captcha field setting on your form.

    Kind Regards,
    Amin

Thanks – this seems to have solved the problem. I was pretty sure I’d set up the whole thing for V2, but I couldn’t remember how to re-access the original Google reCaptcha page, so I re-did the whole process from scratch, this time specifying V3. This seems to have worked.
