Hackers (Beast3x) got into my site and dumped a bunch of malware on my server. Lesson learned.

After changing passwords, I got onto the server and downloaded:
    1) My uploads directory
    2) My theme directory
    3) SQL dump of my database.

Then I trashed all files and deleted the WordPress install.

Now, I’m thinking of doing a fresh WordPress install and replacing the Uploads with my uploads directory and the database with mine and putting in my rescued theme.

I have searched the Uploads, theme and SQL dump as best I can for potential signs of damage/manipulation and have found none.

Would it work? Will there be any fatal conflicts from missing plugin files that are referenced in my database?

Generally, yes. Make sure you have a list of your plugins to reinstall and install (but don’t activate) them before restoring the database. It will cause a little bit less grief tha tway.

New lesson: Backup early, backup often, and backup automatically. I like the plugin “backwpup” because the free version can do scheduled backups and store the resulting backup off-host.

Also, install the plugin WordFence and have it scan all your uploads.
