    Hi there,

i connected analytics and adsense via Sitekit. I can see all the Users connecting in the realtime report. But for some reasons they dont get logged for the Snapshot data.

I am generally using a cookie plugin, wich is now disabled for tests. I first want to be sure that this logging error is not a cookies fault.
I am just blocking google Adsense Data via a cookie, so a user can opt-uout the ads. The analytics traffic is not blocked.

As the realtime data shows in Adsense, im pretty sure that this is not my fault. For some reasons they just dont get saved in analytics.

I also installed now a new plugin to check my Pageviews and my Users (yes, i know the diffrence).

    The Real data today is:
    1300 Users
    3000 Page views.

    Analytics shows:
Realtime: 62 Users in last 30 Minutes (sounds okay)
Snapshot data: 238 Users the whole day.

That doesnt add up. Have i missed like any checkbox or so to make the logging work?
I also have the feeling that this “bug” my reduced my adsense Money.

Any idea how we can test this to find the error?

    Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out @igitt23. I checked your site and I can confirm a valid Analytics code snippet is inserted site Site Kit, and it is functioning as expected, recording site visits – as you’ll see from this screenshot using the tagassistant.google.com service.

In relation to your snapshot data not appearing as expected, unfortunately we’re limited to Site Kit queries here in the plugin support forums. Luckily, the product experts over at the Google Analytics Help Center can assist with such queries. I’m aware that the snapshot report can be customized, so it’s possible that what you’re viewing is filtered.

Note that I also checked the Google Analytics code snippet in relation to your cookie plugin configuration. It doesn’t seem to alter the behavior of the snippet before consenting, so I don’t suspect this is causing any issue.

Hopefully you can find further details on your Google Analytics snapshot report using the Google Analytics Help Center, where the product experts would have more insights than we can provide here.

    Best of luck.

    Hi James,

    thanks for your fast reply!

I also Checked if i had some filters but the only filter i had was to filter the fews for “today” so it should display the correct data anyway.

For analyitcs i disabled my cookie plugin, yes. I just want to activate it, when i know that it works.

    Update:
For some reason i can now see the correct data for yesterday :O
Can you tell me, if it may take a while till analytics can show the correct data in a Snapshot? So round about 24hs?

Cause now i get the right data from yesterday but it still shows the wrong data for today.
And i mean the analitics.google.com Website and not the Sitekit Plugin. I know that Sitekit takes a while to receive the data but i didnt knew, that the normal analytics website also may take that long

    Best regards

Great question! Unfortunately I’m not sure. Analytics data from analytics.google.com is not immediate. The real time reporting tool with show you live users on your site in real time, however, with the snapshot data I can’t be sure. I would suggest asking the product experts over in the Analytics Help Center. Regular data via the reports is updates every 24-48 hours, as per this guide.

For your information, Site Kit uses the Google Analytics reporting API, meaning data will show up to the previous day.

    Hi James,

I’ve been doing some more testing over the last few days and I’ve noticed a few strange things:

    1. the Analytics website actually takes about 24 hours to update the snapshot numbers. These also roughly correspond to my call figures, which I log on the server side (+- 5% wich is okay)
    2. for some reason, however, a different number appears in the SiteKit than in google Analytics. Even if you wait 48 hours. For example:
according to the Analytics website, I had 2036 users on 27.12.2023.
According to Google Sitekit, I had 2299 users on the same day.

How can that be? All days in the past show different values between Sitekit and Google Analytics. I rule out that it is an error in the synchronization, which is due to the waiting time.

Do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem? And which number do you think is more accurate in your experience?

Thanks for the update @igitt23. It’s normal that the figures won’t exactly what you see from the Google Analytics platform. As mentioned above, Site Kit uses the Google Analytics reporting API, meaning data is collected up until the previous day. The differences should should be minor, but that is dependent on visitors throughout specific times over the past 24 hours.

Another good way to ensure all is well within the data you see in Site Kit to that which you see from the Analytics platform, is to click on the “Source: Analytics” link within the Site Kit dashboard. The number may not match in total, but they should be similar, in particular if you select the 90 day reporting period.

Another good way to test out the data using a demo API similar to what Site Kit uses is to use the Analytics query explorer tool. That will provide you with some tools used to capture various metrics.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
