Hey! Since I want to set up a small webshop on my website as well, I recently purchased an SSL certificate from my hosting provider. The customer service guy advised me to use Really Simple SSL to convert my website to https:// format.

So far so good and the Really Simple SSL plugin worked like a charm. I then tried fixing the errors/weak points as mentioned by the plugin, but now I somehow can’t access the settings from the plugin anymore. I click on them, then the page redirects to the plugin settings (I can briefly see them), but they disappear before I can do anything.

What did I do wrong and how can I fix it? This is my first WordPress site, so I’m not too familiar with lots of things yet. I haven’t tried deactivating or uninstalling the plugin yet, since I’m not aware of what it would do to my website. I rather ask advice here first.

Thank you so much for helping me out! ??

    Hi @kirstensuzyq.

I think you mean a blank page instead of: https://snipboard.io/LWy6Er.jpg?

If so, could you stay on the page and go to (Chrome example) to your Chrome – View – Developer – Javascript Console and see if there are any errors?

On the left-hand side your will find the errors: https://snipboard.io/xW6dqH.jpg

I hope the image shows up, this is what I see, but I’m not sure if I did it the right way. I also updated to 6.0.4, but this didn’t solve the problem. I see the dashboard from your first image for about a second or two, and then it disappears.

It looks like there’s another plugin generating errors, which caus the settings code to fail. What other plugins do you use? Then we can test with those.

@kirstensuzyq I don’t see any obvious possible causes in this list.

In the console screenshot you posted I see a notice about ‘status’ being read on an empty object, in the SSL Labs component. I wasn’t able to create a setup with this same issue, so it’s an educated guess that this branch might help in your case:

    https://github.com/Really-Simple-Plugins/really-simple-ssl/tree/test-SSLdata.status-availability

Would be great if you can check if that works.

On the github page, there’s a green ‘code’ button on the right. If you click it, you can download a zip file. Best way to do this would be to

    – unzip it
    – rename the folder to ‘really-simple-ssl’ (it has now the name of the branch)
    – zip it again. The folder in it has now the same name as the one on your site.
    – upload it as normal WordPress plugin. You will get asked if you want te replace the existing file, which is normal.

If there’s still an issue, it would be great if you can share a similar screenshot again. There’s more logging in it now, so I can probably see more detail.

Or you can directly email the screenshot to support(at)really-simple-ssl.com

@kirstensuzyq Can you try updating to v6.0.10? There have been some changes which I expect to resolve your issue.
