Subscribe2 upgraded to version 10.8 today and when that happened a HUGE banner for “Readygraph” appeared at the top of my Plugin menu command. It SEEMS like the only way to make this disappear is to “connect my site” to a Readygraph account? It’s some kind of “viral” engagement system to grow my subscribers?

I don’t need it, don’t want it, and just want the banner to stop SCREAMING AT ME. How can I shut it off? Or is Readygraph now required in order for Subscribe2 to operate?

    Thanks.

  • The ReadyGraph banner is still there and I hope to God you are not stealing my subscribers by this new ReadyGraph!!!

Sorry for the frustration! We are trying hard to keep up with requests and ultimately make Subscribe2 even more useful for WP users.

RG features are totally optional. Certainly no subscribers are stolen. The X button totally closes the banner so you should never see it again. Thank you for the feedback.

Glad to hear it then. Keep people informed in what your service does and doesn’t do and how it interacts with the plugin as far as the use (or exploitation) of the private user base on individual blogs. Big question would be…”Are the subscribers still kept private after signing up to your service, or are they made public to you and to everyone else who signs up to the service?”. Those are some of the things people want to know because most bloggers tend to want to keep their audience to themselves.

This is awful. Same thing happened to me. The x only deletes it once. It comes back every time I go in.

    Goodbye Subscribe 2.

    VERY bad idea.

    Same Problem here.
The “X” just closes the banner once – as soon as you reload the page, BANG – it’s there again.

I really wish that “RG features are totally optional” – but obviously, they are needed to get rid of the banner. I’ll go a while with it, waiting for a fix – but it get’s annoying on the long run…

    Edit:
    – removed file readygraph-extension.php
    – removed directory readygraph/
    – in file plugins/subscribe2/subscribe2.php , remove or comment the line “include “readygraph-extension.php””

Worked for me, no sign of the existence of ReadyGraph anymore ??

I think the new developer is putting the thought of making more money in front of what was once a great plugin. Best to put the plugin back to the way it was and then create a separate settings tab that let’s people know about RG and give them the option if they want to sign-up or not. The huge annoying banner is the first thing that needs to go. Then the thought of big dollar signs needs to be erased from the noggin’ along with any thoughts of how to steal our subscribers. Once that’s done, then maybe the plugin will be useable again. SMH
