Reading Settings Current selector for blog

I am trying to make my blog child pages to view as current in the navigation menu. The only way I have been able to do this is by making the posts page my static blog page in the reading settings, but this makes the parent point to my index page and isn’t what I’m wanting. If I deselect the posts page and have nothing the blog page works fine, but I then cannot get the child pages to display current. Does anyone have a solution for this?
