I have an unusual situation. I updated my Akismet plugin when the update was first released– 2.1.7. At the same time, my web host had some DNS problems and my blog went “screwy” (as reported by some readers). Also at the same time, a reader of my blog was submitting a comment, and when they tried to publish it, they got a blank screen. That is all they see since they tried to access my site since last week.

The DNS problem was resolved after a few hours. I then re-updated Akismet (due to the bug in 2.1.7) to 2.1.8. However, the reader of the site who tried to comment says she cannot access my blog. She has tried deleting her cache, pinging her connection, trying different browsers and different computers. All she gets is a blank screen.

I cannot figure out why this is occurring. I have for the time being disabled Aksimet. Does anyone have ANY suggestions for me? I’m completely baffled.

I had disabled the Aksimet and the reader informed me it made no difference. She still cannot view my blog.

The reader also contacted her ISP to ask if my blog was being blocked, and she was told it is not.

I cannot figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas, even the slightest idea?

Could it be that her ISP cached bad/wrong DNS records from your web host during their DNS problems? If this is what happened, then it may take a few days for these records to be updated to the correct ones.

Thanks so much for responding! I know next to nothing about DNS. I’ll *try* to be patient and wait a few days. ??

That’s what it was, a DNS issue. A few people who were lcked out all came in at about the same time. Case closed! Thanks.
