    Hi,

We use the read more code for setup the partly closed page content. Unfortunately, from the last update of the plugin, the public part doesn’t follow the read more setup.

The visible parts is the beginning of the alrtiles, with the same lengths, regardless of the read more setup.

If we add excerpt to the article, than it works, but it is not proper solution, since we would like to use long public content with images and other formatted text. Foro example, we have also articles, which public part is ca. the first half of the artilce, instead of some short text.

Please be so kind and help to fix the problem.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi @webreneszansz

I’m sorry to hear about this issue you are facing here.

I’ve tested this using Memberlite theme and Paid Memberships Pro and I am unable to replicate this issue.

Please see this image for reference:

    Screen-Shot-2021-03-19-at-14-21-20

This is using the Block Editor and the read more tag after the second paragraph. To confirm, your site isn’t taking into account the read more tag at all and is setting the ‘excerpt’ length regardless of where the read more tag is set?

Does this issue persist with other themes? Was Paid Memberships Pro the only item updated before you started noticing this change?

    Hi,

The only problem is, that if I fill the excerpt field, than it overwrites the read more setup and the non blocked content will be the excerpt, instead of the content, above read more code.

    Tahnk you!

Thanks for the feedback @webreneszansz, this sounds like it may be a theme related issue.

Are you able to temporarily test another theme on a local/staging environment to see if the ‘read more’ issue persists?

    Hi,

I tested it with Twenty Twenty-One and the result is the same, the filled excerpt overwrites the read more setup.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback, could you please send through a list of all active plugins so I may overlook this for you?

I haven’t been able to replicate this at all, I’ve tried various themes and the read more tag from the Block Editor is taken into consideration each time.

This issue seems to be site-specific.

Thanks for the feedback I’ll try to recreate this issue on my end. If you have a staging site or able to create a new ‘blank’ site for testing purposes I recommend in doing so and installing Paid Memberships Pro only to see if this issue persists .

As mentioned, I haven’t been able to replicate this issue using the ‘read more’ block and numerous themes (and plugins installed).

If we are able to consistently recreate this issue, we can troubleshoot it further from our ends.

    Hi,
I creted a staging site, disabled all of the plugins, except of the Paid Membership plugins, also use Twenty-One theme, instead of the Divi, but in vain, the problem is still unresolved.

    Thank you very much!

I haven’t been able to replicate this whatsoever. I have tested this again and the “Read More” is showing correctly, using the TwentyNineteen theme.

I did use the /more block while using the Block Editor to set the excerpt. I recommend in reaching out to a local WordPress developer to troubleshoot this further with you as the issue seems to be site specific.

    Hi,
I am ready to show you the staging site, since you are the developer the plugin.
    Thank you very much!

You may share the frontend link to your site so I can look at it to see if I notice anything, however please note that no login details should be shared here as this is a public forum.

I’ve tested this and ‘open’ or public posts, available to non-members, shows the read more link. When the post requires a level, the read more link is replaced with the Paid Memberships Pro content restricted message. Is this what you are referring to?

    Thread Starter Webfolio Webdesign

    (@webreneszansz)

    Hi,

Please give me an email addrss and I can send you login details, to check and test the staging site. It is in maintenance mode.

No, the problem is, that if the excerpt field is filled, than the plugin use the excerpt above the Paid Memberships Pro content restricted message, istead to follow the read more shortcode setup.
I mean, in the posts, which need membership, we setup the read more code generally under 4-6 paragraps, to show enougth content for all of the visitors to promote the subscription.

We need also the filled excerpt field, because we also have some Related post plugin.

But it is wrong from business point of view, that the membeship plugin show only the short excerpt above the restriction message, isnstead of the read more setup.

    Tahnk you very much!

You may open a ticket on https://www.paidmembershipspro.com for us to investigate this further.

Can you please test the more tag instead of setting an excerpt?
