Read More Button

  • My theme is Weaver Extreme. When I click on the read more button in the page editor, I get the more inserted where I want it placed in my copy. However, when I open preview, the entire text is displayed. I do not have a read more link to open an excerpt. From all that I have read, it should be that easy to insert a read more link. Videos etc. Is this an issue with my theme…does not support read more? Do I need to add a plug-in? I have not seen a comment on the forum to address why it all looks right in editor, but not in preview or published view. Thanks for your considerate help. MV

    When you click preview on a post, you see the entire post, so there would not be a “Read more” button.

    An excerpt would show up in the main blog index, archive list, etc…

    The only way to see what an excerpt will look like on your site is to publish the post, then look at the excerpt in one of the index pages.
