Read more & Additional Css Not Working

The <!–Read more–> tag doesn’t work on the theme anymore. It used to work but for some reason it stopped working. There is no “insert read more” tag in the new block editor. Could this be an update issue? The other posts from the past that I used it with is still working as it should with the tag, but it stopped. Not actually sure if its because of the theme or wordpress itself and the new block editor–it won’t allow me to revert back to the classic. I’ve tried it with the code editor as well, still stopped working.

In addition, I see no “additional Css” in the customizer anymore.

I was hoping I could maybe use that to fix the read more or show the excerpts properly, but when I click “allow excerpts” in editor it automatically removes the featured images.

To summarize,
I want the read more to work properly and to have the option to add css in the theme customizer.

Can anyone give me some pointers on fixing this issue? Thanks.
