• Hi, I closed my Blog 6 yrs ago. But I saved my upload files. These consists of a bunch of .sql files and on .xml file. Can I reconstruct my blog locally based in these .sql and .xml files??I am hoping to get my texts backs. Best and thank you

    The SQL file(s) contain your database (your site content and settings), so importing that into a new, empty WP site should get your site’s contents back. I’d suse PHPMYADMIN for this.

    Sorry, it may be that the SQL file is corrupt or not an actual backup created by an export in PHPMYADMIN (you did choose “import” to upload it, didn’t you?) or by mysqldump. If so, you may have to do some manual editing.

    What are you using locally? I recommend using https://localwp.com for a local dev/test environment.

    The bigdump script has over 1000 lines, so I suspect your copy is corrupt. You might want to download a fresh copy of the ZIP archive and extract the bigdump.php file again. URL:

    Also note that you probably can’t import the .sql files until you create a database. Most SQL dumps do not attempt to create databases because control panels such as cPanel/Plesk/DirectAdmin/etc set up DB users that do not have the ability to create databases.
