Re-Run of BIE to capture updated comments etc?

I used Blogger Importer Extended to transfer to a WP staging site (worked perfectly) a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have been working on the template and updating some information on posts that were imported (within the main body of the text. No change to URLs).
Although I haven’t added any new posts to the old Blogger site since import, I am wondering how best to import new comments and views information before I go live with the WP site? Should I rerun BIE (and if so what are the risks to damaging the work I have done on the staging site or creating any duplicate posts/pages)? I notice on a previous query that there was a possible risk from plugins that might change post data which could damage the ID to prevent duplicates???? What might these be?
Or is there a safer way to update the small amount of information that I need to pull across?
