Hi there. I recently changed my wordpress directory structure so that rather than having uploads live under wp-content/uploads, they live in content/uploads, and I did a search and replace on the database to correct references to those uploads in posts. Broken link checker is showing 363 broken links, most of which are images that have the wp-content/uploads path. However the posts don’t actually contain these urls anymore – the posts are using the updated path now and display the images properly.

Is there a way I can do a bulk action to have broken link checker re-populate all the urls it checks? I want to have these old paths that no longer exist in posts completely removed from the list of broken links. I don’t think “dismiss” would do what I want because it would still have 300-some urls listed which are no longer actually in my database.

    Hi @mrengy

I hope you are doing well.

First, you need to make sure the links were updated when modifying the structure, you can run a search replace making a backup and using the search replace plugin.

Once the links are correct and no 404 or redirect links, you can go to WordPress > Settings > Broken Link Checker > Advanced and “Forced recheck” making the plugin re-check the links.

Let us know the result you got.

Thanks. Yeah, I did a search and replace earlier as I mentioned.

That “forced recheck” was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! It wiped out the list of links and started rechecking, which seems to be working.
