Re-order the output: category_display_text

Hi,
I need to move the category display AFTER the excerpt and remove the comma separation.
I have reviewed the guide on filters and in particular the 2 examples:

1. Reorder (https://gist.github.com/billerickson/0114db9559050824fb1f4af219cbc5df) and
2. Add time (https://www.billerickson.net/code/add-time-to-display-posts-shortcode/)

but neither mention category_display_text.

I found in the plugin code (https://github.com/billerickson/display-posts-shortcode/blob/master/display-posts-shortcode.php) the area where this output is prepared (around line 455), but need help with a filter to modify it.

Has this been done before and if so, please could you provide a pointer?
