I am a new user of WordPress and I am running it on localhost. My install is using XAMPP. I have lost access to my website database and I get the following message:

    This site can’t be reached
    localhost refused to connect.
Search Google for localhost wordpress admin
    ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Can someone please provide me with some simple instructions to re-connect to my database?
    Thanks

  • Hi, did you check that the database is working and the login info set in wp-config.php is correct? Does enabling debug show anything out of the ordinary?

Problem is now resolved. It seems that XAMPP was not launching when I booted up my computer. Therefore MySQL and Appache were not running. I was able to start both MySQL and Appache by opening the XAMPP control panel to get access to my website. Then I copied the XAMPP start-up in the to start-up menu for my computer and XAMPP now launches each time my computer starts. Access is now through my browser as before.
Great to know that there are lots of WordPress experts out there to help.
    Thanks
