Re-install/doesn't recognize usernames w old database

my hard drive on a dedicated server at OLM.NET recently crashed, they cloned the HD and got me back up and running but needed to delete my WordPress to make that happen and run ok for some reason. I re-installed my old version of WordPress that I had (although I had been keeping up with updates before the deletion). I still had my orginal database which I thought would be helpful. I installed the files, tried to do a re-install (wp-admin/install.php) but it said it already exists. when I try to login it doesn’t recognize and usernames or passwords, and when I click “lost password” it says none of my emails are registered, even though I can clearly see them notated in the database.
