Re-index SEO data

    The new function of Yoast SEO to store/index the data works fine, until you change your domain (from test to live for example). In my case a domain from one language using Polylang.

    Changing the domain didn’t trigger a re-index and thus all canonical URL’s weren’t updated, this caused some SEO issues since we didn’t notice that right away.

    Once I noticed the above I didn’t find any location within Yoast SEO where I could manually trigger a re-index. I needed to do this manually in the database.
    Might be a good idea to:
    1) Add a manual re-index option for all SEO data
    2) Add triggers that auto re-index on domain changes etc.

    Then reindex tables.

    Thank you for reaching out.

    As @eduits mentioned, a manual re-index can be done through the Yoast Test Helper plugin. Let us go through the steps involved:

    1. Install and activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin found here.
    2. Go to Tools → Yoast Test
    3. Click the Reset Indexables tables & migrations button.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools and click the Start processing and speed up your site now button and let it run.

    Thanks for the headsup. But in that case clearing the yoast seo index tables has the same effect and is a lot faster.
    IMO it seems silly to require an extra plugin for a re-index feature.

    Thank you for your reply. That is indeed another workaround but it is a technical step where a lot can go wrong if you are not sure what you are doing in the database. I’ll pass along your feedback.
