• A friend and I have started a new blog that will give ideas people can do on their trips rather it be a short road trip, vacation or cross country road trips. We are “amature travelers” our selfs so we will be discussing things we learn along the way that may provide help to others as well, such as tourist attractions and tips we may think of.

With the brief idea of the site given, what do you think of the theme? It was originally a poker game theme, but I edited the spades and poker dealer out of the header images and put the name there.

    Link: The Amature Traveler

  • Hard to read and way to many borders.

I Think you should change your color scheme to something brighter

You don’t have any links in your blogroll. If you don’t intend on having any links, you should edit the template and remove the blogroll.

    You spelled amateur wrong.

wayyyyyyyyy too dark. I was depressed immediately, and clicked back. seriously.

and yes, it looks like phpnuke. too many borders. no padding on the eight hand side of your posts. colors, or lack of. ugh.

I liked the theme the other day, but today it appeared hard to read to me as well. I suppose I will keep looking for another theme.

As the blog is new, and I am more focused on the overall scheme of the theme I have not had enough time for the blogroll section. However soon as I find a decent theme to stick with I will be adding links to the section. Thanks for checking it.

This was done on purpose actually, my friend and I noticed that amateur traveler was already taken, however slightly respelling the word to amature, which can be pronounced the same way (ah-mature) was not taken.

I’m sorry we depressed you, I’ve been to busy today to look through more themes, but I will be continuing the search for a lighter theme.

How likely is it that people will be searching for a deliberately misspelled word? Google will actually suggest the correctly spelled alternative. My guess is that the correctly spelled domain will get all of your intended traffic.

How likely is it that people will be searching for a deliberately misspelled word?

I am not talking about the specific case here, But putting misspelled words is actually a thing that I also use for SEO reasons (and it works..)
However, I usually put the misspelled word in Meta Info (like tags, description, keywords etc..)
you will be amazed how many people misspell words, and doesn’t even know the right spelling (so the google suggestion is ignored)
Usually non English-Native people (like myself) who spell the matching word like they know it in their language (may it be Spanish, French, Italian, German or any other language)
I think that putting SOME misspelled words in keywords actually helps.

This could be, but if do it right then people should be able to remember the slight difference, and when searching for travel related things, I doubt that amateur or amature is going to be the main keywords that brings them to the site. However, if it appears we aren’t getting good results we can always change the name for as little as $10 for a new domain. ??

Thank you for your post, sometimes people misspell words, and sometimes I will do that as well and find things I would not have found if I had typed it correctly. Because of this, sometimes I will purposely search with a misspelling, can be interesting sometimes!

Also if you use an online auction site such as eBay, a bunch of times sellers will not realize that they have misspelled something, and searching for misspelled products can sometimes save you a bunch of money as others may not come across it, just because it is misspelled.
