re-directing to owned domain

I currently own a domain (example vmfl.ca). I am wanting to rebuild the site on wordpress.com and can’t get vmfl.wordpress.com so I took vmflfootball.wordpress.com

When I want to direct this to my domain that I own (vmfl.ca) will there be problems because the name doesn’t match?
