  • Hi, i have issue running youtube vids on a pi 4 they dont load in fast enough (internet cable wired connection) how is your experience or do you have same issue here? What might be the solution to this?

We are hardwired in with a 150mbps down and up internet connection.
Our video starts but half way into the video it will skip to the next slide

YouTube is working for me using FIREFOX.

@drtomeagle which version of Raspberry Pi are you using?

Hi @kie99, sorry to hear this is not working. Let’s see if we can find out why! To me it sounds like a Pi / Chromium issue, as your slide works as expected on your desktop computer.

My Pi (3) set up doesn’t play video/Youtube slides smoothly (or at all!) so I’m afraid I’m a bit limited. Is there any way you could troubleshoot a bit more? Maybe using a different browser on the Pi, to see if this holds the slide until the end or not. Or using an MP4 video slide to see if this holds the slide or not. Hope this will tell us something.

i had an issue similar to this, i think it has to do with the html version or something. the easiest way is to download fully video kiosk, remember to download the video kiosk and not the browser kiosk and then load ur content in a playlist. if ur app starts to crashing download a ram booster that optimizes ram whenever it goes or 65-75% and you are good to go.

I am using a pi 4. I pull the video from my webserver, not YouTube. If I do two 30 seconds video slides, it will fail sometimes.

Hi all, hearing this, even when using Pi 4, I think the Pi is just not powerful enough to play YouTube/MP4 on Foyer slides. You might get lucky with specific easy going MP4 files, or when just using a single video in your slideshow, but in general I’d advice against using Pi when video content is important.
